The 100-mile race began Friday night in Baie St-Paul, 66 km east of Mont Ste-Anne ski resort, the place all distances converge on the end line. Nepal’s Sangé Sherpa, 40, broke the tape Saturday afternoon in a blistering 19 hours, 35 minutes, 52 seconds, a brand new course file that future runners will discover difficult to beat (although second-place finisher and native hero Jean-François Cauchon, who was solely 35 minutes behind him in second place, will seemingly proceed to contend in future years).
