The 2020 Olympic marathon bronze medallist, Molly Seidel, has declared herself out of the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Ore. as a result of a stress response in her sacrum.
Seidel, 27, made the announcement on Instagram yesterday after she has been coping with ache in her hip since dropping out of the Boston Marathon in April.
“Getting ready myself for these world championships has been probably the most difficult construct I’ve had,” Seidel writes. “The impingement in my hip hasn’t totally resolved, but I stored pushing it, and an MRI late this week confirmed I’ve a stress response in my sacrum. Persevering with to coach and race on it will result in a full fracture, and I don’t wish to waste a spot on the U.S. crew.”
