Q&A with Ana Seixas | Holstee

In April, we accomplice with Ana Seixas, an illustrator from Viseu, a small metropolis within the heart of Portugal.  Ana loves brilliant colours and daring shapes.  Nature, touring, love and relationships are themes most represented in her private work.  When requested about her artwork for this month’s theme of Compassion, Ana says, “In moments of uncertainty, doubt, worry or ache, I give myself a hug and I maintain myself by that second….I simply want to know that the sensation or response is legitimate, and love is all it wants.  For me, that’s compassion.”

For a bit of extra about Ana, this is a brief Q&A:

The place is residence for you?

The place my cats are, and for the time being, our house is in Porto, Portugal.

What’s your definition of a profitable life?

That is one thing I’ve been enthusiastic about for a very long time, and I’ve come to the
conclusion that residing a profitable life for me resides in peace with myself, coping with my internal conflicts in a wholesome method and cultivating serenity all the way in which.

 

Describe your excellent day.

Sunshine, nature and a dip within the ocean.

How did you get into design?

Drawing, for me, is only a regular factor to do, at all times has been. I consider it was
one thing I by no means doubted I wished to pursue.  I studied Design in Aveiro College, after which, when residing in Barcelona I specialised in Illustration.  I simply saved on drawing, and that’s great.

The place do you discover inspiration?

I like to have a espresso on a terrace with my pocket book on the desk and take notes about issues I wish to draw.  I’m impressed by what surrounds me.  Additionally, staring on the waves and the timber, surrounding myself with nature, attention-grabbing individuals and deep ideas.

What’s your dream design undertaking?

I’ve already labored on so many cool initiatives!  However sure, there are nonetheless issues that I dream about doing, like designing a clothes assortment for youths.

Which designers or thinkers affect/encourage you?

Lisa Congdon and Louise Lockart, I really like the way in which they carry illustration to merchandise and the way they unfold pleasure and love by their work. Additionally, I really feel very impressed by Corita Kent’s significant life story.

What was the inspiration behind this design?

This illustration was on my thoughts for some time, I wished to share the concept of giving a hug, being there for myself throughout the hardest occasions.
