A scoop of Meadowsweet herb

Relaxing Meadowsweet has an interesting history. It was used as a strewing herb to make houses smell nice. (Since most of us don’t like to throw herbs on the floor, I wonder if it could be used in potpourri?) It was also used as an ingredient in Mead (a fermented alcoholic drink made from honey, water and yeast). And today it is used as an anti-inflammatory herb with multiple healing purposes. The relaxing effect of this herb is said to be helpful for digestive complaints as well as for the type of emotional state that keeps you awake attempting to emotionally digest the stresses and concerns of the day. This is something it has in common with Chamomile (the herb tea and the flower essence) so it’s no wonder that people frequently combine Meadowsweet with Chamomile and Mint at bedtime to aid with relaxing at the end of the day.

People who are allergic to aspirin might want to be cautious with this herb as it contains salicylatesa similar ingredient to what was originally used to make aspirin (although not exactly the same).

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
